Blowing Rock Conference Center

Location

The Blowing Rock Conference Center is located in the beautiful mountain village of Blowing Rock, North Carolina, sitting at an elevation of 3800-plus feet.  Our location, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, can be your jumping-off point for year-round activities, from antiquing and bird watching to golfing and fishing and – for more adventurous souls – whitewater rafting, skiing, mountain biking and climbing. Blowing Rock Conference Center is within a two-hour drive from the Charlotte, NC airport and two hours from the Greensboro, NC airport

Accommodations

Our buildings are not air conditioned, but please keep in mind that we are in the mountains, and nighttime temperatures in July, our hottest month, are generally in the upper 50’s to low 60’s.  Guests may bring a fan for their room if they feel it will be necessary for their comfort.  Bed linens (including pillows and blankets) and towels are provided in all lodging accommodations.  Blowing Rock Conference Center is a smoke-free facility.  Guests who wish to smoke must do so outdoors.  As a courtesy to others, please do not smoke near any open windows.

Corriher Lodge

Corriher Lodge is BRCC’s principal facility and hub of activity.  In addition to guest rooms and meeting facilities, the Lodge also contains the administrative offices, registration desk, two lobbies, dining room and meditation chapel. There are many pleasant gathering areas for our guests to enjoy quiet conversation and fellowship, from Corriher Lodge’s South Lobby with its gas log fireplace, to decks and porches, to small tucked-away spots for more intimate conversation. Each of Corriher Lodge’s fifty-one guest rooms is comfortably appointed with two double beds and a private bath.  Five of the guest rooms are handicapped-accessible.  Interior corridors enhance safety and comfort and every corridor exits to the outside or to a comfortable lobby.  It is just a few short steps to the Leonard Dining Room.

Cottages

Each of our four cottages will accommodate six persons.  There are two bedrooms per cottage; one with a queen-size bed and the other with two single beds and a set of bunk beds.  There is also a living/dining area, kitchenette, full bath and porch.

Rowe Dorm

Dorm-style building that will accommodate 80 persons in ten two-bedroom suites, each bedroom sleeping 4 in bunk beds, with a shared bathroom.  Bed linens (including pillows and blankets) and towels are provided.

Southern Conference Youth Center

Dorm-style accommodations for 24-28 guests.  Each of the four bedrooms contains three sets of bunk beds and one trundle bed.  There are two bathrooms in the Youth Center, each with two showers and two toilets.  Bed linens (including pillows and blankets) and towels are provided.

Calvin Cottage

A two-level retreat center that will accommodate 24-26 people in bunk beds in five dorm-style bedrooms.  There are three bathrooms, a kitchen, sitting area and fellowship area.  Bed linens (including pillows and blankets) and towels are provided.

Refunds and Cancellation Policies

If a group cancels prior to their deposit due date and has already paid their deposit, a refund of that amount minus a $10.00 processing fee will be granted.

Once the deposit due date has passed, deposits are non-refundable; however, groups that cancel with at least a sixty (60) day notice from their arrival date are given an opportunity to roll-over their reservation one time within the same calendar year, and the entire amount of the deposit received by BRCC will be applied to that future bill. Each group has the opportunity to drop rooms without penalty no less than 60 days prior to arrival; that date is stated in the reservation contract.  After that date if the number of rooms dropped exceeds more than 10% of the total number of rooms reserved, there is a $50.00 penalty per each dropped room.
Inclement Weather Policy:  If the State Highway Patrol deems road conditions to be too dangerous for travel, we will work with groups to reschedule within a twelve (12) month period.  The entire amount of the deposit thus far received by BRCC will be applied to that future bill.  Or, if the group chooses to proceed with their retreat and arrive the next day after road conditions have improved, the group would be charged only for overnights and meals taken.
Meals:  Group leaders are required to contact BRCC two weeks prior to their arrival with a guaranteed number of persons taking meals.  The group’s invoice will be prepared using that number as the minimum for meal charges.  The group will be charged in full for meals reserved and not taken.  If the group leader fails to call BRCC with a guaranteed number, the estimated number of participants at the time of booking, as stated in the group’s reservation contract, will be used as the minimum

Meeting Spaces

A variety of meeting rooms is available – some with fireplaces and others with a smaller, more business-like atmosphere.  We can provide your group with a TV/VCR/DVD, an overhead projector, sound system, LCD projector, screen or flipchart.  A computer is available for guests to check e-mail, and our staff is available to make photocopies and send faxes.  There is free wireless internet available in Upper Shuford Hall  and in each of Corriher Lodge’s three meeting rooms and two lobbies. One meeting space is provided free of charge for overnight groups taking meals, with additional meeting or breakout spaces provided, if available (*there is a fee).  Please see our rate sheet for additional information.  Meeting spaces are assigned by our staff according to group size and program needs.
